TxNxM1: The Anatomy and Clinics of Metastatic Cancer
Although distant metastases are the most dreaded situation in the evolution of cancer of every organ, the medical literature has surprisingly given little attention to the anatomical relationship between the primary tumor and metastasic sites. Only risk factors, treatment possibilities, and survival results are extensively examined.
Stimulated by the occurrence in his practice of some puzzling and unexpected metastases, the author reviewed more than 12,000 references. He looked for anatomical relationships highlighting the relation between the location of the primary tumors and the particular patterns of metastasis observed. It would seem that the `pathways and flows' are apparently a more decisive factor in the implantation of the metastases than the `seed and soil' properties of the cancer cells and the metastatic site.
Aided by his colleague Dr. T. Geukens, M.D., the author includes original anatomical drawings, illustrating the sometimes unexpected pathways the cancer cells follow in order to reach the organs where they will become lodged and give rise to metastatic tumors. The subject has apparently not been exhausted in the literature and several ideas are given for further research.

Denman Ross and American Design Theory

Denman Ross and American Design Theory by Marie Frank
2011 | ISBN: 1584659696, 1611680255 | English | 344 pages | PDF | 6 MB

Denman Ross and American Design Theory
In this masterful intellectual and cultural biography of Denman Ross (1853–1935), the American design theorist, educator, art collector, and painter who taught at Harvard for over 25 years, Marie Frank has produced a significant artistic resurrection. An important regional figure in Boston’s fine arts scene (he remains one of the largest single donors to the collections of the MFA to this day), Ross was a friend and colleague of Arthur Wesley Dow, Bernard Berenson, Jay Hambidge, and others. He gained national and international renown with his design theory, which ushered in a shift from John Ruskin’s romantic naturalism to the formalist aesthetic that characterizes modern art and architecture. Ross’s theory attracted artists, Arts and Crafts artisans, and architects, and helped shape architectural education, scholarship, and museum practices. This biography of an important intellectual figure is also a fascinating and illuminating guide to a pivotal point in American cultural history and a reminder of the days when Boston was America’s salon.

The Essential John Nash

FREEDownload : The Essential John Nash

John Nash, Harold William Kuhn, Sylvia Nasar, "The Essential John Nash"
English | 2001-11-19 | ISBN: 0691095272 | 224 pages | DJVU | 4 MB

The Essential John Nash
When John Nash won the Nobel prize in economics in 1994, many people were surprised to learn that he was alive and well. Since then, Sylvia Nasar's celebrated biography A Beautiful Mind, the basis of a new major motion picture, has revealed the man. reveals his work–in his own words. This book presents, for the first time, the full range of Nash's diverse contributions not only to game theory, for which he received the Nobel, but to pure mathematics–from Riemannian geometry and partial differential equations–in which he commands even greater acclaim among academics. Included are nine of Nash's most influential papers, most of them written over the decade beginning in 1949.

From 1959 until his astonishing remission three decades later, the man behind the concepts "Nash equilibrium" and "Nash bargaining"–concepts that today pervade not only economics but nuclear strategy and contract talks in major league sports–had lived in the shadow of a condition diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenia. In the introduction to this book, Nasar recounts how Nash had, by the age of thirty, gone from being a wunderkind at Princeton and a rising mathematical star at MIT to the depths of mental illness.

In his preface, Harold Kuhn offers personal insights on his longtime friend and colleague; and in introductions to several of Nash's papers, he provides scholarly context. In an afterword, Nash describes his current work, and he discusses an error in one of his papers. A photo essay chronicles Nash's career from his student days in Princeton to the present. Also included are Nash's Nobel citation and autobiography.

makes it plain why one of Nash's colleagues termed his style of intellectual inquiry as "like lightning striking." All those inspired by Nash's dazzling ideas will welcome this unprecedented opportunity to trace these ideas back to the exceptional mind they came from.

Postoptimal Analyses, Parametric Programming, and Related Topics

FREEDownload : Postoptimal Analyses, Parametric Programming, and Related Topics

Postoptimal Analyses, Parametric Programming, and Related Topics by Tomas Gal
English | August 12, 2010 | ISBN: 3110140608 | 464 Pages | PDF | 92 MB
For some considerable time, linear programming has been one of the methods of operations research which has been widely known and much applied in Germany too, both in the literature ofthe subject and in practice. Its applications range from production planning through finance planning and from optimization of traffic networks through urban planning. The literature of linear programming includes textbooks of a strictly mathematical nature as weil as programmed textbooks for those with no previous knowledge of mathematics. An objection frequently heard to more extensive dissemination of the theories of linear programming in the practical field has been that data wh ich are available in practice are at once too inexact and too unreliable to provide the basis for the application of "exact" procedures like linear programming.

Postoptimal Analyses, Parametric Programming, and Related Topics
This problem is the starting point of the present volume. The inexactitude and unreliability of existing data often cannot be disputed. Using conventional planning methods, the determination of the effects of these inaccuracies is frequently very difficult, if not impossible. In most cases, this is, however, possible using sensitivity analysis in the widest sense (i.e., including postoptimal analysis and parametric programming), and the amount of effort involved is reasonable. My colleague, Professor Gal has been involved in research in this field for many years. His decision to undertake the writing of an introduction to and interpretation of the area of linear programming which enables us to make statements on the possible effects of data changes, data inaccuracies, and decision changes on operational and other problems is, therefore, to be welcomed.
Sensitivity analysis, as interpreted in the present volume, has been seen by experts – correctly, in my opinion – as the bridge between pure dissemination of information and decision making. There is, thus, ample justification for including a volume on such an important subject in the "Operations Research" series. As the present volume is likely to interest both hose working in linear programming and research mathematicians, the chapters have been written primarily with practical application in mind, and an abridged mathematical version has been appended to each of them. It is hoped that this will increase the usefulness of the volume for a wide range of readers.

Essentials of SMT: Practical Know-How

Essentials of SMT: Practical Know-How by Young Kang
English | December 21, 2014 | ISBN: 9383185546 | ASIN: B00RBADR98 | 274 Pages | EPUB/MOBI/AZW3/PDF (Converted) | 51 MB
I feel privileged to be asked to contribute this little foreword for this wonderful book written by my good friend, Young Bong Kang.

Essentials of SMT: Practical Know-How
I first met Kang when he came to India in 2007 and joined M/s Ever Electronics (one of the main OEM for the Korean giant, L.G. Electronics) as my junior colleague. From the beginning, he impressed me with his professionalism and in-depth knowledge of working on the shop-floor, particularly with SMT technology. To be honest, I would be only too happy to admit that though he was reporting to me, I learnt a lot from him about the SMT process! He has a rich experience of 24 years in SMT manufacturing, right from the selection of machines, layout of machines, process parameters and material management.
Kang has put all his practical knowledge and wisdom associated with SMT manufacturing and presented all its nuances in a very easy-to-understand format through this fine book. After having worked with Sharp and LG Electronics for close to 20 years, I can vouch for the fact that I have never seen a book that is so practical in nature. It makes me realize that if only I had had an opportunity to work with such a genius during my apprenticeship period, I would have been miles ahead!
I strongly recommend this book to all who wish to pursue a career in Electronics’ manufacturing as SMT will be the technology for the FUTURE… This book will be a valuable guide to young engineers as well as Production managers. Moreover for all those who derive pleasure merely from the joy of reading and learning, this book will definitely give immense satisfaction…

Taut, suspenseful and ferociously readable thriller featuring psychological profiler Dr Tony Hill. A terrific chiller from Manchesters answer to Thomas Harris Guardian
Nobody moves around inside the messy heads of serial killers like Dr Tony Hill. Now heading up the recently founded National Profiling Task Force, he sets his team an exercise: they are given the details of thirty missing teenagers and asked to use their new techniques to discover whether there is a sinister link between any of the cases. Only one officer, Shaz Bowman, comes up with a concrete theory, but it is ridiculed by the rest of the group until someone murders and mutilates one of their number.

Could Bowmans outrageous suspicion possibly be true? For Tony Hill, the murder of a member of his team becomes a matter for personal revenge. Aided by his previous colleague, Carol Jordan, he embarks upon a campaign of psychological terrorism a game of cat and mouse where the roles of hunter and hunted are all too easily reversed.
