A Critique of Welfare Economics, 2nd edition

FREEDownload : A Critique of Welfare Economics, 2nd edition

I. M. D. Little, "A Critique of Welfare Economics, 2nd edition"
English | ISBN: 0198281196, 0198810040 | 2002 | 324 pages | PDF | 15 MB

A Critique of Welfare Economics, 2nd edition
A Critique of Welfare Economics was first published in 1950. It was concerned with the exposition, criticism, and appreciation of the theory of economic welfare as it had been developed to that date. It was an attempt to clarify what was meant by 'welfare'; to distinguish measurable, verifiable elements of the theory from subjective normative judgements about policies for improving economic well-being; and to establish criteria for determining whether one configuration of the economic system is better or worse than another. Little showed that the welfare theory of the time could be based directly on individual market choices, and that resort to traditional utilitarian concepts was not essential.

A Critique of Welfare Economics is now reissued at the same time as Ethics, Economics, and Politics – Little's latest book which explores the overlap between the three disciplines, and discusses the need for political decisions in economic matters, and the principles guiding them. He has added a new retrospective preface to Critique in which he assesses the contribution the book made in the light of subsequent literature in the area.

Visit AutomateWithASAP.com for more info Creating a test environment can be a painful exercise consisting of many hours of downloading, installing, waiting, and configuring.

PowerShell for Systems Administrators | Automate VirtualBox With ASAP User Guide
Multiply that by 'x' if you are building a test environment with multiple systems. Unfortunately, if an install or test is botched the process will need to be completed again. The work isn't hardit's just time consuming.

Unfortunately, if you have limited resources, creating multiple test environments can be a pain. ASAP was created to address this issue.

ASAP will allow you to create multiple disposable environments that can be run locally on a Windows system using Oracle's VirtualBox.

ASAP was created with PowerShell and can be scripted to setup a test environment using a preconfigured configuration file.

I have taken concepts from gaming industry and applied the model to ASAP. Think of ASAP as a system for building test environments. ASAP is the gaming system and the configuration file is the game. Multiple configuration files can be setup to run different test environments depending on your needs. The power of ASAP is that is uses PowerShell and VirtualBox's command line tools to automate the process so you don't have to worry about it. All that is needed is a base OS and a configuration file. ASAP will do the rest.

Edward Crookshanks, "Practical Software Development Techniques: Tools and Techniques for Building Enterprise Software"
English | 2014 | ISBN-10: 1484207297 | 212 pages | EPUB | 4 MB

Practical Software Development Techniques: Tools and Techniques for Building Enterprise Software EPUB
This book provides an overview of tools and techniques used in enterprise software development, many of which are not taught in academic programs or learned on the job. This is an ideal resource containing lots of practical information and code examples that you need to master as a member of an enterprise development team.

This book aggregates many of these "on the job" tools and techniques into a concise format and presents them as both discussion topics and with code examples. The reader will not only get an overview of these tools and techniques, but also several discussions concerning operational aspects of enterprise software development and how it differs from smaller development efforts.

For example, in the chapter on Design Patterns and Architecture, the author describes the basics of design patterns but only highlights those that are more important in enterprise applications due to separation of duties, enterprise security, etc.

The architecture discussion revolves has a similar emphasis – different teams may manage different aspects of the application’s components with little or no access to the developer.

This aspect of restricted access is also mentioned in the section on logging.

Theory of logging and discussions of what to log are briefly mentioned, the configuration of the logging tools is demonstrated along with a discussion of why it’s very important in an enterprise environment.

What you’ll learn
Version control in a team environment
Debugging, logging, and refactoring
Unit testing, build tools, continuous integration
An overview of business and functional requirements
Enterprise design patterns and architecture
Who this book is for

Student and software developers who are new to enterprise environments and recent graduates who want to convert their academic experience into real-world skills. It is assumed that the reader is familiar with Java, .NET, C++ or another high-level programming language. The reader should also be familiar with the differences between console applications, GUI applications and service/daemon applications.
