#Accelerate: The Accelerationist Reader

FREEDownload : #Accelerate: The Accelerationist Reader

Robin Mackay, Armen Avanessian, "#Accelerate: The Accelerationist Reader"
2014 | ISBN-10: 0957529554 | 448 pages | PDF | 5 MB

#Accelerate: The Accelerationist Reader
Accelerationism is the name of a contemporary political heresy: the insistence that the only radical political response to capitalism is not to protest, disrupt, critique, or détourne it, but to accelerate and exacerbate its uprooting, alienating, decoding, abstractive tendencies. The term was coined to designate a certain nihilistic alignment of theory with the excess and abandon of capitalist culture, and the associated performative aesthetic of texts that seek to become immanent to the very process of alienation. Developing at the dawn of contemporary neoliberal consensus, the uneasy status of this impulse, between subversion and acquiescence, between theoretical purchase and aesthetic enjoyment, constitutes the core problematic of accelerationism. Since the 2013 publication of Williams's and Srnicek's #Accelerate: Manifesto for an Accelerationist Politics, the term has been adopted to name a set of new theoretical enterprises that aim to conceptualise non-capitalist futures outside of traditional marxist critiques and regressive, decelerative or restorative solutions. #ACCELERATE presents a genealogy of accelerationism, tracking the impulse through 90s UK darkside cyberculture and the theory-fictions of Nick Land, Sadie Plant, Iain Grant, and anonymous units like CCRU and SWITCH, across the cultural underground of the 80s (rave, acid house, Terminator and Bladerunner) and back to its sources in delirious post-68 ferment, in texts whose searing nihilistic jouissance would later be disavowed by their authors and the marxist and academic establishment alike. On either side of this largely unexplored central sequence, the book includes texts by Marx that call attention to his own 'Prometheanism' and key works from recent years document the recent extraordinary emergence of new accelerationisms steeled against the onslaughts of neoliberal capitalist realism, and retooled for the twenty-first century. At the forefront of the energetic contemporary debate around this disputed, problematic term, #ACCELERATE activates a historical conversation about futurality, technology, politics, enjoyment and Kapital. This is a legacy shot through with contradictions, yet urgently galvanized today by the poverty of 'reasonable' contemporary political alternatives.

Intrusion Detection for IP-Based Multimedia Communications over Wireless Networks

FREEDownload : Intrusion Detection for IP-Based Multimedia Communications over Wireless Networks

Intrusion Detection for IP-Based Multimedia Communications over Wireless Networks By Jin Tang, Yu Cheng
2013 | 96 Pages | ISBN: 1461489954 | PDF | 3 MB

Intrusion Detection for IP-Based Multimedia Communications over Wireless Networks
IP-based multimedia communications have become increasingly popular in recent years. With the increasing coverage of the IEEE 802:11 based wireless networks, IP-based multimedia communications over wireless networks are also drawing extensive attention in both academia and industry. Due to the openness and distributed nature of the protocols involved, such as the session initiation protocol (SIP) and the IEEE 802:11 standard, it becomes easy for malicious users in the network to achieve their own gain or disrupt the service by deviating from the normal protocol behaviors. This SpringerBrief presents real-time intrusion detection techniques that can quickly track the malicious behaviors which manipulate the vulnerabilities from either the 802.11 or the SIP protocols. More specifically, this book presents interdisciplinary techniques to achieve an effective real-time intrusion detection system, which interweaves medium access control (MAC) protocol analysis, cumulative sum (CUSUM) based detector design, a novel Markovian model for CUSUM detectors, sketch-based traffic modeling, and wavelet based signal processing techniques.

What Nurses Know…Menopause

FREEDownload : What Nurses Know…Menopause

What Nurses Know…Menopause by Karen Roush RN MSN DNP
2011 | ISBN: 1932603867 | English | 248 pages | PDF | 1 MB

What Nurses Know…Menopause
Menopause, the end of menstruation and fertility, is a natural biological process, not a medical condition. Even so, the physical and emotional symptoms of menopause can disrupt a women's life and require treatment if severe.
Very often, women arrive at their menopause years without knowing anything what they might expect, or when or how the process starts and how long it may last. Many women have not been informed about this stage of life, in the US it may often be the case that physicians, older female family members or members of a women's social group have provided no insight or information. With confusion over the risks of estrogen therapy, the proliferation of alternative therapies, concerns about osteoporosis and heart disease, and questions about sexual health, the need for clear useful information is endless.

sheds new light on this natural biological process and itís symptoms from a trusted source: nurses. Simply organized and clearly written provides individuals, their families, friends, and healthcare practitioners the answers they need and want.

Special Features Include:
-Numerous sidebars and call out boxes with "Nurse Notes" and "New Nursing Research Points to…"
-Definitions of Common Terms
-Resources, online tools and specific websites at the end of chapter to help those going through menopause

About the Series
Nurses hold a critical role in modern health care that goes beyond their day-to-day duties. They share more information with patients than any other provider group, and are alongside patients twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, offering understanding of complex health issues, holistic approaches to ailments, and advice for the patient that extends to the family.

Nurses themselves are a powerful tool in the healing process. What Nurses Know gives down-to-earth information, addresses consumers as equal partners in their care, and explains clearly what readers need to know and wants to know to understand their condition and move forward with their lives.
