Australian Beetles: Morphology, Classification and Keys (Australian Beetles Series) by John F. Lawrence, Adam Slipinski
2013 | ISBN: 0643097287 | English | 520 pages | PDF | 215 MB

Australian Beetles, Volume 1: Morphology, Classification and Keys
This three-volume series represents a comprehensive treatment of the beetles of Australia, a relatively under-studied fauna including many unusual and unique lineages found nowhere else on Earth. The biology and morphology for all major beetle lineages is described and illustrated, and the revised identification keys (currently recognized as one of the most valuable keys worldwide) will aid quarantine agents, biologists and students in identifying members of the most species-rich order of animals. A large section on the adult and larval morphology of beetles and a chapter on the fossil record are also included.

Volume 1 updates and expands Lawrence & Britton's out-of-print Australian Beetles, with improved keys to all beetle families found in Australia, expanded family diagnoses as well as modern classification and additional illustrations. The introduction to beetle morphology and anatomical terms clarifies characters and terminology used in the keys; few other resources for beetle identification include such a detailed morphological background.

Volume 2 is due Fall 2015 and Volume 3 is expected in 2017.

Key Features:
* An updated, expanded version of the popular, out-of-print Australian Beetles, with improved keys to all beetle families found in Australia, expanded family diagnoses as well as modern classification and additional illustrations

* The introduction to beetle morphology and anatomical terms clarify characters and terminology used in the keys; few other resources for beetle identification include such a detailed morphological background

After theend ofthe 20th century, the science ofcrystallizationreached a truly exciting stage where new opportunities emerged in both theory and expe- ment.

Must You Go? My Life with Harold Pinter

Must You Go? My Life with Harold Pinter By Antonia Fraser
Publisher: Na.n A. Ta.le.se 2010 | 336 Pages | ISBN: 0385532504 | EPUB | 12 MB

Must You Go? My Life with Harold Pinter
Fraser is a highly regarded British biographer, and the late Harold Pinter, her husband, was a Nobel-winning British playwright. So, the circle they generally traveled in was made up of not only fellow writers but also, because of their individual and combined celebrity, fellow celebrities. Fraser's latest book is both joyous and sad. The former because she shares diary entries concerning her relationship with Pinter (they lived together from August 1975 until Christmas 2008), and it was obviously a stimulating love-match. And sad because the book ends when it does because of Pinter's death from cancer; his struggle with the disease had been years-long. As expected, given their fame and the fame of their associates, lots of name-dropping goes on here. This is not, of course, the story of two starving artists trying to scratch together a living in some cold-water flat. But privileged as they were, they nevertheless experienced the normal highs and lows together, and the result is a poignant read. Serious readers will generate demand for this title, and they will respond with gratitude to Fraser's intimacy.

Filled with plenty of examples and careful explanations, this step-by-step guide teaches you to build a subscription-based business site with Joomla!. This site will evolve chapter by chapter as you apply the techniques and theory that you are learning to it. You will start by looking at the environment in which you develop, setting yourself up with the right tools to develop a professional site as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Joomla! 1.5x Customization: Make Your Site Adapt to Your Needs
Then you will move on to setting the purpose of our site, and why it is important to have a clear purpose and goals for your site before you ever even install Joomla!. You will begin to look through choosing, installing and customizing extensions, and proceed to work on your sample subscription site as a practical example of the information covered in each chapter. Finally you will look at how to market and monetize your site to ensure the maximum success for your site. This book is written for people with basic knowledge of Joomla! who want to expand their skills and move from simply assembling extensions and installing a template to truly customizing their own site. Readers are expected to have functional knowledge of Joomla! and a very basic understanding of terms such as FTP, PHP, HTML, CSS, javascript, even if they have no real knowledge of the workings behind these terms. This book does not cover topics such as installing Joomla! and extensions, or creating content. The ideal reader is one who wishes to build a successful business web site using Joomla! and is interested in making as well as saving money by applying professional tools and techniques to the development, monetization, and marketing of their site. The Bad Citizen in Classical Athens

Matthew R. Christ "The Bad Citizen in Classical Athens"
Cambridge University Press | 2006-10-02 | ISBN: 0521864321 | 262 pages | PDF | 3 MB

The Bad Citizen in Classical Athens
This book provides a fresh perspective on Athenian democracy by exploring bad citizenship, both as a reality and an idea, in classical Athens, from the late sixth century down to 322. If called upon, Athenian citizens were expected to support their city through military service and financial outlay. These obligations were fundamental to Athenian understandings of citizenship and it was essential to the city's well-being that citizens fulfill them. The ancient sources, however, are full of allegations that individuals have avoided these duties or performed them deficiently. Claims of draft evasion, cowardice on the battlefield, and avoidance of liturgies and the war tax are common. By examining the nature and scope of bad citizenship in Athens and the city's responses – institutional and ideological – to the phenomenon, this study aims to illuminate the relationship between citizen and city under the Athenian democracy, and more broadly, the tension between private interests and public authority in human societies.
