Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials by G. V. Kozlov, Yu G. Yanovskii
2014 | ISBN: 1771880414 | English | 384 pages | PDF | 11 MB

Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials
This new book explores the consideration of relationships that connect the structural and basic mechanical properties of polymeric mediums within the frameworks of fractal analysis with cluster model representations attraction. Incidentally, the choice of any structural model of medium or their combinations is defined by expediency and further usage convenience only. This book presents leading-edge research in this rapidly changing and evolving field.

The book presents descriptions of the main reactions of high-molecular substances within the frameworks of fractal analysis and irreversible aggregation models. Synergetics and percolation theory were also used. In spite of the enormous number of papers dealing with the influence of the medium on the rate of chemical reactions (including synthesis of polymers), no strict quantitative theory capable of "universal" application has been put forward up until now. It is now possible to describe the relationship between the reaction rate constants and the equilibrium constants with the nature of the medium in which the reactions take place by means of a single equation. This important book for the first time gives structural and physical grounds of polymers synthesis and curing, and the fractal analysis is used for this purpose.

This new book:

* Highlights some important areas of current interest in polymer products and chemical processes

* Focuses on topics with more advanced methods

* Emphasizes precise mathematical development and actual experimental details

* Analyzes theories to formulate and prove the physicochemical principles

* Provides an up-to-date and thorough exposition of the present state of the art of complex polymeric materials

Ecology of Australian Freshwater Fishes

FREEDownload : Ecology of Australian Freshwater Fishes

Ecology of Australian Freshwater Fishes by Paul Humphries, Keith Walker
2013 | ISBN: 0643097430 | English | 440 pages | PDF | 19 MB

Ecology of Australian Freshwater Fishes
This edited volume reviews our past and present understanding of the ecology of Australian freshwater fishes. It compares patterns and processes in Australia with those on other continents, discusses the local relevance of ecological models from the northern hemisphere and considers how best to manage our species and their habitats in the face of current and future threats. In view of these challenges, the need for redress is urgent.

The chapters are written by some of our foremost researchers and managers, developing themes that underpin our knowledge of the ecology, conservation and management of fish and fish habitats. For each theme, the authors formulate a synthesis of what is known, consider the need for new perspectives and identify gaps and opportunities for research, monitoring and management. The themes have an Australian context but draw upon ideas and principles developed by fish biologists in other parts of the world.

The science of freshwater fish ecology in Australia has grown rapidly from its roots in natural history and taxonomy. This book offers an introduction for students, researchers and managers, one that the authors hope will carry Australian fish biology and resource management to new levels of understanding.

Biomedical Microsystems By Ellis Meng, search results
2010 | 408 Pages | ISBN: 1420051229 | PDF | 24 MB

Biomedical Microsystems
Poised to dramatically impact human health, biomedical microsystems (bioMEMS) technologies incorporate various aspects from materials science, biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, and engineering. Reflecting the highly interdisciplinary nature of this area, covers the fundamentals of miniaturization, biomaterials, microfabrication, and nanotechnology, along with relevant applications.
Written by an active researcher who was recently named one of Technology Review’s Young Innovators Under 35, the book begins with an introduction to the benefits of miniaturization. It then introduces materials, fabrication technology, and the necessary components of all bioMEMS. The author also covers fundamental principles and building blocks, including microfluidic concepts, lab-on-a-chip systems, and sensing and detection methods. The final chapters explore several important applications of bioMEMS, such as microdialysis, catheter-based sensors, MEMS implants, neural probes, and tissue engineering.
For readers with a limited background in MEMS and bioMEMS, this book provides a practical introduction to the technology used to make these devices, the principles that govern their operation, and examples of their application. It offers a starting point for understanding advanced topics and encourages readers to begin to formulate their own ideas about the design of novel bioMEMS. A solutions manual is available for instructors who want to convert this reference to classroom use.

A New Foundation of Physical Theories

A New Foundation of Physical Theories
English | Astronomy, Physics | 4. December 2007 | ISBN-10: 3540308326 | 262 pages | pdf | 1 mb
Written in the tradition of G. Ludwig's groundbreaking works, this book aims to clarify and formulate more precisely the fundamental ideas of physical theories.

A New Foundation of Physical Theories
By introducing a basic descriptive language of simple form, in which it is possible to formulate recorded facts, ambiguities of physical theories are avoided as much as possible. In this approach the field of physics that should be described by a theory is determined by basic concepts only, i.e. concepts that can be explained without a theory.

In this context the authors introduce a new concept of idealization and review the process of discovering new concepts. They believe that, when the theories are formulated within an axiomatic basis, solutions can be found to many difficult problems such as the interpretation of physical theories, the relations between theories as well as the introduction of physical concepts.

The book addresses both physicists and philosophers of science and should encourage the reader to contribute to the understanding of the lasting core of physical knowledge about the real structures of the world.
