Must You Go? My Life with Harold Pinter
Fraser is a highly regarded British biographer, and the late Harold Pinter, her husband, was a Nobel-winning British playwright. So, the circle they generally traveled in was made up of not only fellow writers but also, because of their individual and combined celebrity, fellow celebrities. Fraser's latest book is both joyous and sad. The former because she shares diary entries concerning her relationship with Pinter (they lived together from August 1975 until Christmas 2008), and it was obviously a stimulating love-match. And sad because the book ends when it does because of Pinter's death from cancer; his struggle with the disease had been years-long. As expected, given their fame and the fame of their associates, lots of name-dropping goes on here. This is not, of course, the story of two starving artists trying to scratch together a living in some cold-water flat. But privileged as they were, they nevertheless experienced the normal highs and lows together, and the result is a poignant read. Serious readers will generate demand for this title, and they will respond with gratitude to Fraser's intimacy.

English | 2014 | ISBN: 1497681030 | 236 pages | EPUB | 0,3 MB

Playing Around: Women and Infidelity
Intimate, explosive, revelatory

American women talk about having been unfaithful to their primary sexual partners. Why did they cheat? How and where did they manage to meet with their lovers? Were the affairs more sexually satisfying than the women's primary relationships? More emotionally satisfying? Did they feel guilt? Did they keep their affairs secret or admit them to partners or friends? And, whether confessed or not, how did infidelity affect the women's lives?

Intimate and explosive, Playing Around explores the pleasures and pains of female infidelity and illuminates women's participation in a behavior that is often viewed as predominantly male.

Assuming a Body: Transgender and Rhetorics of Materiality

Gayle Salamon, "Assuming a Body: Transgender and Rhetorics of Materiality"
English | ISBN: 023114959X, 0231149581 | 2010 | 208 pages | PDF | 12 MB

Assuming a Body: Transgender and Rhetorics of Materiality
We believe we know our bodies intimately–that their material reality is certain and that this certainty leads to an epistemological truth about sex, gender, and identity. By exploring and giving equal weight to transgendered subjectivities, however, Gayle Salamon upends these certainties. Considering questions of transgendered embodiment via phenomenology (Maurice Merleau-Ponty), psychoanalysis (Sigmund Freud and Paul Ferdinand Schilder), and queer theory, Salamon advances an alternative theory of normative and non-normative gender, proving the value and vitality of trans experience for thinking about embodiment. Salamon suggests that the difference between transgendered and normatively gendered bodies is not, in the end, material. Rather, she argues that the production of gender itself relies on a disjunction between the "felt sense" of the body and an understanding of the body's corporeal contours, and that this process need not be viewed as pathological in nature. Examining the relationship between material and phantasmatic accounts of bodily being, Salamon emphasizes the productive tensions that make the body both present and absent in our consciousness and work to confirm and unsettle gendered certainties. She questions traditional theories that explain how the body comes to be–and comes to be made one's own–and she offers a new framework for thinking about what "counts" as a body. The result is a groundbreaking investigation into the phenomenological life of gender.

English | Sep 18, 1997 | ISBN: 0195113810, 0195082524 | 352 Pages | PDF | 47,7 MB

The Invisible God: The Earliest Christians on Art by Paul Corby Finney
This revisionist study challenges the received opinion that in its earliest manifestations Christianity was a form of religiosity opposed both on principle and in fact to the use of pictures. Paul Corby Finney argues that the well-known absence of Christian pictures before A.D. 200 is due to a complex interplay of social, economic, and political factors, and is not, as is commonly assumed, a result of an anti-image ideology. The book documents the origins of Christian art based on some of the oldest surviving Christian archaeological evidence, and it seeks to show how the Christian products conformed to the already-existing pagan types and models. This study will interest scholars and students in the fields of church history, ancient history, archaeology, art history, classics, and historical theology.

The New Making of a Cook, 2nd Edition

FREEDownload : The New Making of a Cook, 2nd Edition

The New Making of a Cook, 2nd Edition
English| 1254 Pages | ISBN: 0688152546 | scanned PDF | 197 MB
Although this massive book began as a revision of Kamman's classic The Making of a Cook (1971), it's really an entirely new work; the text has been rewritten and greatly expanded, and few of the recipes are the same. The organization is similar, based generally on techniques and "building blocks" rather than courses of a meal (not surprisingly, the chapter titled "The True Way to That Man's Heart" has been dropped). While classic French dishes are still important, there are many lighter recipes, and Kamman, aware of the realities of the modern work week, incorporates time-saving suggestions and variations into more complicated recipes. Kamman's masterwork contains an incredible amount of information not only on techniques and ingredients but also on food science, cultural and culinary history, and myriad other topics. Although the book's size may seem intimidating, home cooks will find many creative everyday recipes here, and more ambitious cooks will turn to it for both inspiration and reference. Highly recommended.

Have you ever taken a whirlwind tour of Thailand? Never mind if you have not. You can do that with your taste buds from the comforts of your home. Once you savor Thai food, there is no looking back.

Thai Family Cookbook: Healthy, Nutritious, Easy Recipes
Thai food is simple, a great combination of sweet, salty, sour, and bitter and a variety of chilies although Thai cuisine is known for being spicy with lots of fresh herbs. The vast variety of food comes from 4 regions of Thailand namely Northern, Northeastern, Southern and Central. The main concept is to balance these flavors to activate your senses. The most commonly used herbs are lemon grass, cilantro, basil, mint, etc.
Green, yellow, or red curries are some of the most popularly known Thai dishes. The authentic Thai curry pastes are made with a mortar and pestle, which is a must in every Thai kitchen. If you don't own one, then you can roll the herbs with a rolling pin to release the flavors. Thai curries are generally eaten with rice. Rice is a staple in Thai cooking that you find it in soups and salads too. Sticky rice is a delicacy.
Thai people eat anything at any meal. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, a typical Thai meal consists of a soup, a curry dish, a dip with vegetables and fish, salad and rice or noodles. The meal is served at once instead of serving in courses.
We have provided a wide range of recipes like breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dishes can be varied to suit all palates. In this eBook, we have described ways to make various authentic, lip smacking and healthy Thai recipes in an easy way.
The ingredients you need can be easily found in the super markets. The nutritional values given per serving are an estimate and should be used for approximation only.
Happy Thai cooking!
