Hitler 1936-1945: Nemesis

Ian Kershaw, "Hitler 1936-1945: Nemesis"
English | ISBN: 0140272399 | 2001 | 1216 pages | EPUB, MOBI | 10 MB

Hitler 1936-1945: Nemesis
Following the enormous success of "Hitler: Hubris" this book triumphantly completes one of the great modern biographies. No figure in twentieth century history more clearly demands a close biographical understanding than Adolf Hitler; and no period is more important than the Second World War. Beginning with Hitler's startling European successes in the aftermath of the Rhineland occupation and ending nine years later with the suicide in the Berlin bunker, Kershaw allows us as never before to understand the motivation and the impact of this bizarre misfit. He addresses the crucial questions about the unique nature of Nazi radicalism, about the Holocaust and about the poisoned European world that allowed Hitler to operate so effectively.

Continuous-Time Markov Chains and Applications: A Two-Time-Scale Approach

Continuous-Time Markov Chains and Applications: A Two-Time-Scale Approach by G. George Yin and Qing Zhang
English | 2012-10-25 | ISBN: 1461443458 | PDF | 448 pages | 3,4 MB

Continuous-Time Markov Chains and Applications: A Two-Time-Scale Approach
This book gives a systematic treatment of singularly perturbed systems that naturally arise in control and optimization, queueing networks, manufacturing systems, and financial engineering. It presents results on asymptotic expansions of solutions of Komogorov forward and backward equations, properties of functional occupation measures, exponential upper bounds, and functional limit results for Markov chains with weak and strong interactions. To bridge the gap between theory and applications, a large portion of the book is devoted to applications in controlled dynamic systems, production planning, and numerical methods for controlled Markovian systems with large-scale and complex structures in the real-world problems. This second edition has been updated throughout and includes two new chapters on asymptotic expansions of solutions for backward equations and hybrid LQG problems. The chapters on analytic and probabilistic properties of two-time-scale Markov chains have been almost completely rewritten and the notation has been streamlined and simplified. This book is written for applied mathematicians, engineers, operations researchers, and applied scientists. Selected material from the book can also be used for a one semester advanced graduate-level course in applied probability and stochastic processes.

Zerstorer Volume One: Luftwaffe Fighter-Bombers and Destroyers 1936-1940 (Luftwaffe Colours)
The Luftwaffe Zerstörer units, equipped with the twin-engined Me 110, were first used to great effect in the escort and air superiority roles against the Polish Air Force in 1939. Later these units took part in the occupation of Norway and Denmark, and during the Blitzkrieg against the west in 1940, when their numbers were expanded with the addition of new units. Considered by Göring to be among the elite of the Luftwaffe, the Zerstörer were deployed in the Battle of Britain, in the Balkans, North Africa and in the East, where Zerstörergruppen accounted for significant numbers of Russian aircraft destroyed on the ground and in the air. This is the first of two volumes covering the history of the Zerstörer squadrons between 1939 and 1945. Each volume adopts the traditional Classic approach of a detailed narrative matched with a comprehensive selection of photos, many previously unpublished, and specially prepared color artworks.

Asian Labor in the Wartime Japanese Empire: Unknown Histories: Unknown Histories

Asian Labor in the Wartime Japanese Empire: Unknown Histories: Unknown Histories by Paul H. Kratoska
English | December 18, 2014 | ISBN: 0765612623, 0765612631 | ASIN: B00R6BGGWC | 440 Pages | EPUB/MOBI/AZW3/PDF (Converted) | 11.48 MB
During the Pacific War the Japanese government used a wide range of methods to recruit workers for construction projects throughout the occupied territories. Mistreatment of workers was a major grievance, both in widely publicized cases such as the use of prisoners of war and forced Asian labor to construct the Thailand-Burma "Death" Railway, and in a very large number of smaller projects.

Asian Labor in the Wartime Japanese Empire: Unknown Histories: Unknown Histories
In this book an international group of specialists on the Occupation period examine the labor needs and the recruitment and use of workers (whether forced, military, or otherwise) throughout the Japanese empire. This is the first study to look at Japanese labor policies comparatively across all the occupied territories of Asia during the war years. It also provides a graphic context for examining Japanese colonialism and relations between the Japanese and the people living in the various occupied territories.
