2014 | ISBN-10: 3319102257 | 264 pages | PDF | 9 MB

Foodinformatics: Applications of Chemical Information to Food Chemistry
The explosion in the generation of information parallels the explosion of computational resources. The use of computers to collect, store and manipulate chemical information is at the heart of chemoinformatics. These methodologies, whose main target thus far has been the pharmaceutical field, are general and can be applied to other types of chemical data sets, such as those containing food chemicals. While the use of chemical information methodologies to address food-related challenges is still in its infancy, interest is growing and will continue to do so as the methods prove useful, particularly for providing practical solutions to food industry challenges. Foodinformatics gives an overview of basic concepts, applications, tools and perspectives of the emerging field of foodinformatics. The book is an important addition to the literature and will be of interest of food chemists, nutritionists, informaticians and scientists of related fields. Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials

Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials by G. V. Kozlov, Yu G. Yanovskii
2014 | ISBN: 1771880414 | English | 384 pages | PDF | 11 MB

Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials
This new book explores the consideration of relationships that connect the structural and basic mechanical properties of polymeric mediums within the frameworks of fractal analysis with cluster model representations attraction. Incidentally, the choice of any structural model of medium or their combinations is defined by expediency and further usage convenience only. This book presents leading-edge research in this rapidly changing and evolving field.

The book presents descriptions of the main reactions of high-molecular substances within the frameworks of fractal analysis and irreversible aggregation models. Synergetics and percolation theory were also used. In spite of the enormous number of papers dealing with the influence of the medium on the rate of chemical reactions (including synthesis of polymers), no strict quantitative theory capable of "universal" application has been put forward up until now. It is now possible to describe the relationship between the reaction rate constants and the equilibrium constants with the nature of the medium in which the reactions take place by means of a single equation. This important book for the first time gives structural and physical grounds of polymers synthesis and curing, and the fractal analysis is used for this purpose.

This new book:

* Highlights some important areas of current interest in polymer products and chemical processes

* Focuses on topics with more advanced methods

* Emphasizes precise mathematical development and actual experimental details

* Analyzes theories to formulate and prove the physicochemical principles

* Provides an up-to-date and thorough exposition of the present state of the art of complex polymeric materials

The Digital Economy ANNIVERSARY EDITION: Rethinking Promise and Peril in the Age of Networked Intelligence
“Twenty years of hindsight prove how deeply Tapscott understood the impact the Internet would have on the way we live, work, play and learn. This important book, now updated, is just as relevant today as it was then.”
John Chambers, Chairman and CEO, Cisco

With a new foreword by Eric Schmidt, Chief Executive of Google

Two decades ago, The Digital Economy changed the way the world thought about the Web and Internet. While everyone else was in awe of “websites” and "dot coms," Don Tapscott was among the first people to argue that the Internet would fully transform the nature of business and government. It goes without saying that his predictions were spot on.

Now, in this new edition of his classic work, the New York Times bestselling author provides topical updates with a sweeping new analysis of how the Internet has changed business and society in the last 20 years, covering:

Natural frictions between present-day Industrial Capitalism and the Digital Economy
The radical effects of the Internet on traditional corporate structures and systems
Dramatic changes in business collaboration and culture thanks to social media
The rise of web-based analytics and how they have transformed business functions
Government transparency, citizen empowerment, and the creation of public value
Teaching and learning—revolutionary developments driven by digital content
When Tapscott was writing the original edition in 1994, he was living in a world where Netscape had been just introduced as go-to browser, websites didn’t do transactions, dial-up was the only way to get online, and mobile phones sightings were rare. Google, YouTube, eBay, Facebook, Twitter? They didn’t exist.

Preserving all the original text as it appeared 20 years ago, this new edition includes detailed essays ending each chapter—Tapscott’s highly informed reflections on his predictions, along with new forecasts of where the digital world is headed.
