Foodinformatics: Applications of Chemical Information to Food Chemistry

FREEDownload : Foodinformatics: Applications of Chemical Information to Food Chemistry

Karina Martinez-Mayorga, José Luis Medina-Franco, "Foodinformatics: Applications of Chemical Information to Food Chemistry"
2014 | ISBN-10: 3319102257 | 264 pages | PDF | 9 MB

Foodinformatics: Applications of Chemical Information to Food Chemistry
The explosion in the generation of information parallels the explosion of computational resources. The use of computers to collect, store and manipulate chemical information is at the heart of chemoinformatics. These methodologies, whose main target thus far has been the pharmaceutical field, are general and can be applied to other types of chemical data sets, such as those containing food chemicals. While the use of chemical information methodologies to address food-related challenges is still in its infancy, interest is growing and will continue to do so as the methods prove useful, particularly for providing practical solutions to food industry challenges. Foodinformatics gives an overview of basic concepts, applications, tools and perspectives of the emerging field of foodinformatics. The book is an important addition to the literature and will be of interest of food chemists, nutritionists, informaticians and scientists of related fields. InTeOpP | 2013 | ISBN: 9535110101 9789535110101 | 432 pages | PDF | 41 MB
The objective of this book is not to cover all areas of crystal growth but just present, as specified in the title, important selected topics, as applied to organic and inorganic systems. All authors have been selected for being key researchers in their field of specialization, working in important universities and research labs around the world. This book is mostly recommended for students working in the field of crystal growth and for scientists and engineers in the fields of crystalline materials, crystal engineering and the industrial applications of crystallization processes.

“Advanced Topics on Crystal Growth” ed. by Sukarno Olavo Ferreira
Crystal growth is the key step of a great number of very important applications. The development of new devices and products, from the traditional microelectronic industry to pharmaceutical industry and many others, depends on crystallization processes.
The first section is mainly devoted to biological systems and covers topics like proteins, bone and ice crystallization.
The second section brings some applications to inorganic systems and describes more general growth techniques like chemical vapor crystallization and electrodeposition.

Rare-Earth Implanted MOS Devices for Silicon Photonics: Microstructural, Electrical and Optoelectronic Properties

FREEDownload : Rare-Earth Implanted MOS Devices for Silicon Photonics: Microstructural, Electrical and Optoelectronic Properties

Rare-Earth Implanted MOS Devices for Silicon Photonics: Microstructural, Electrical and Optoelectronic Properties by Lars Rebohle and Wolfgang Skorupa
English | 2010-10-21 | ISBN: 3642144462 | PDF | 220 pages | 3 MB

Rare-Earth Implanted MOS Devices for Silicon Photonics: Microstructural, Electrical and Optoelectronic Properties
The book concentrates on the microstructural, electric and optoelectronic properties of rare-earth implanted MOS structures and their use as light emitters in potential applications. It describes the structural formation processes in the gate oxide during fabrication and under operation, how this microstructure development will affect the electrical device performance and how both microstructure and electrical characteristics determine the optoelectronic features of the light emitters. However, most of the discussed physical processes as well as the described fabrication methods and device characterization techniques are of general interest and are beyond the scope of this type of light emitter. The book will be of value to engineers, physicists, and scientists dealing either with Si based photonics in particular or optoelectronic device fabrication and characterization in general.

101st Airborne: The Screaming Eagles in World War II by Mark Bando

101st Airborne: The Screaming Eagles in World War II by Mark Bando
In 1942, the 82nd Infantry Division at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, was split in two. One of the new divisions began intense preparations and training for a surprise landing on the Nazi-occupied European continent. The location was Normandy, France; the date was June 6, 1944; and the division was the 101st Airborne: the legendary "band of brothers."

This is the story of that divisions heroic performance on D-Day, and right up to the Allied victory in Europe. Filled with historic images, many never before published, it is also a tribute to the fallen men of the 101st–the artists and athletes, scientists and mathematicians, architects and builders whose sacrifice secured the future but left the human race much diminished. Theirs is an accomplishment well-known but rarely so dramatically depicted: Here is the 101st landing on Utah Beach, coming in by parachute, or glider, or from the sea. Stirring words and pictures capture the landing, linking the Utah and Omaha beachheads; the divisions breaking of the German drive to the coast; and their brilliant stand at Bastogne; a refusal to yield so famously summed up in the commanders reply to a German call for surrender: "Nuts."
