Expert Oracle Database Architecture, 3rd edition EPUB
Now in its third edition, this best-selling book continues to bring you some of the best thinking on how to apply Oracle Database to produce scalable applications that perform well and deliver correct results. Tom Kyte and Darl Kuhn share a simple philosophy: "you can treat Oracle as a black box and just stick data into it, or you can understand how it works and exploit it as a powerful computing environment." If you choose the latter, then you'll find that there are few information management problems that you cannot solve quickly and elegantly.
This fully revised third edition covers the developments up to Oracle Database 12c. Significant new content is included surrounding Oracle's new cloud feature set, and especially the use of pluggable databases. Each feature is taught in a proof-by-example manner, not only discussing what it is, but also how it works, how to implement software using it, and the common pitfalls associated with it.
Don't treat Oracle Database as a black-box. Get this book. Get under the hood. Turbo-charge your career.
Revised to cover Oracle Database 12c
Proof-by-example approach: Let the evidence be your guide
Dives deeply into Oracle Database's most powerful features

Handbook of Polymers in Stone Conservation
Dr. Elisabetta Princi has wide experience regarding the use of polymers in the field of cultural heritage. This handbook is dedicated to the conservation of stone materials by the application of polymers. A short introduction on polymer chemistry is given to highlight their characteristics and properties. After the physical and chemical attributes of stone are summarised, the problems related to its degradation are discussed. Finally, the properties of the various polymers of potential value for stone restoration are reviewed and classified by schemes and tables, and pointers for the future are suggested. This handbook will be of great interest to those who share the author's enthusiasm for stone artworks and her dedication to their restoration and conservation.

Significance of Yavneh & Other Essays in Jewish Hellenism

FREEDownload : Significance of Yavneh & Other Essays in Jewish Hellenism

Shaye J. D. Cohen, "Significance of Yavneh & Other Essays in Jewish Hellenism"
English | ISBN: 3161503759 | 2010 | 629 pages | PDF | 4 MB

Significance of Yavneh & Other Essays in Jewish Hellenism
This volume collects thirty essays by Shaye J.D. Cohen. First published between 1980 and 2006, these essays deal with a wide variety of themes and texts: Jewish Hellenism; Josephus; the Synagogue; Conversion to Judaism; Blood and Impurity; the boundary between Judaism and Christianity. What unites them is their philological orientation. Many of these essays are close studies of obscure passages in Jewish and Christian texts.
The essays are united too by their common assumption that the ancient world was a single cultural continuum; that ancient Judaism, in all its expressions and varieties, was a Hellenism; and that texts written in Hebrew share a world of discourse with those written in Greek. Many of these essays are well-known and have been much discussed in contemporary scholarship. Among these are: "The Significance of Yavneh" (the title essay), "Patriarchs and Scholarchs," "Masada: Literary Tradition, Archaeological Remains, and the Credibility of Josephus," "Epigraphical Rabbis," "The Conversion of Antoninus," "Menstruants and the Sacred in Judaism and Christianity," and "A Brief History of Jewish Circumcision Blood."
Survey of contents:
Jewish Hellenism The Beauty of Flora and the Beauty of Sarai – Sosates the Jewish Homer – The Destruction: From Scripture to Midrash – The Significance of Yavneh – Patriarchs and Scholarchs – False Prophets (4Q339), Netinim (4Q340), and Hellenism at Qumran

Synagogues and Rabbis Epigraphical Rabbis – Pagan and Christian Evidence on the Ancient Synagogue – Were Pharisees and Rabbis the Leaders of Communal Prayer and Torah Study in Antiquity? Women and Blood Menstruants and the Sacred in Judaism and Christianity – Purity, Piety, and Polemic: Medieval Rabbinic Denunciations of `Incorrect' Purification Practices – A Brief History of Jewish Circumcision Blood

Polarised Light

FREEDownload : Polarised Light

Polarised Light
English | Physics, Optics | 13. February 2001 | ISBN-10: 0750306734 | 122 pages | pdf | 0.6 mb
We humans cannot see when light is polarized and this leads to unfortunate misapprehensions about this aspect of nature. Even scientists who should know better often assume that it is an obscure topic of specialized interest in only a few rather isolated areas.

Polarised Light
In fact, it is a universal feature of our world and most natural light is at least partially polarized. In the animal kingdom, insects and other animals exploit such natural polarization in some fascinating ways since they do not share this human deficiency and can both detect and analyze polarization. It may be our unfamiliarity with this aspect of light that also makes people think it is a difficult subject, yet the basis is extremely simple. When these misconceptions are overcome, the phenomena associated with polarization are found to be important throughout science and technology, from physics, astronomy, natural history, geology, chemistry, and several branches of engineering to crafts such as glass-blowing and jewelry. Polarized light also involves some very beautiful effects, most of which are easy to demonstrate. Enriching our perception of the world, this book addresses these misconceptions and provides a framework for applications. It covers wave alignment and crystals as well as various phenomena such as scattering and reflection.

The Struggle for the World: Liberation Movements for the 21st Century

FREEDownload : The Struggle for the World: Liberation Movements for the 21st Century

The Struggle for the World: Liberation Movements for the 21st Century by José Pedro Zúquete, Charles Lindholm
English | 2010 | ISBN: 0804759383, 0804759375 | 280 pages | EPUB | 0,5 MB

The Struggle for the World: Liberation Movements for the 21st Century
What do Mexico's Zapatistas, the French National Front, Slow Food, rave subculture, and al-Qaeda all have in common? From right-wing to left-wing to no-wing, they all proudly proclaim their mission to defend their distinctive identities against modernity's homogenizing processes. This controversial book establishes fundamental similarities between anti-globalization "aurora" movements that aim to destroy the modern world and bring a radiant new dawn to humankind.

While these groups often despise one another, they nonetheless share many fundamental characteristics, goals, and attitudes. Drawing on the original writings and actions of various anti-globalist groups, the authors reveal a common tendency toward charismatic leadership, good versus evil worldviews, the quest for authentic identity, concern with ritual, and unbending demands for total commitment. These movements, however they pursue world transformation and personal transcendence, are a prominent and continuing aspect of our present condition. This book is a strong reminder that, no matter what the cause, revolution is not a thing of the past and the fervent search for another world continues.
