Recent Advances in Redox Active Plant and Microbial Products: From Basic Chemistry to Widespread Applications in Medicine
Nature endows us with a treasure chest of Green Gold full of amazing redox-active' substances which interfere with numerous biological processes in our own body, in animals, bacteria, fungi and plants. Whilst such natural products are all around and also in us, we still do not fully understand how these compounds actually work. This book attempts to resolve some of the mysteries and riddles associated with such products. Written by more than thirty international experts from academia and industry, it places a focus on modern developments in this field and considers such natural products from various angles, from their isolation and characterization all along to product development and commercialization. Throughout, the reader will be confronted with modern approaches which enable the efficient identification and isolation of new natural products, help to elucidate their mode(s) of action and permit practical uses in Medicine, Cosmetics, Agriculture, Industry and as functional foods.

Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials by G. V. Kozlov, Yu G. Yanovskii
2014 | ISBN: 1771880414 | English | 384 pages | PDF | 11 MB

Fractal Mechanics of Polymers: Chemistry and Physics of Complex Polymeric Materials
This new book explores the consideration of relationships that connect the structural and basic mechanical properties of polymeric mediums within the frameworks of fractal analysis with cluster model representations attraction. Incidentally, the choice of any structural model of medium or their combinations is defined by expediency and further usage convenience only. This book presents leading-edge research in this rapidly changing and evolving field.

The book presents descriptions of the main reactions of high-molecular substances within the frameworks of fractal analysis and irreversible aggregation models. Synergetics and percolation theory were also used. In spite of the enormous number of papers dealing with the influence of the medium on the rate of chemical reactions (including synthesis of polymers), no strict quantitative theory capable of "universal" application has been put forward up until now. It is now possible to describe the relationship between the reaction rate constants and the equilibrium constants with the nature of the medium in which the reactions take place by means of a single equation. This important book for the first time gives structural and physical grounds of polymers synthesis and curing, and the fractal analysis is used for this purpose.

This new book:

* Highlights some important areas of current interest in polymer products and chemical processes

* Focuses on topics with more advanced methods

* Emphasizes precise mathematical development and actual experimental details

* Analyzes theories to formulate and prove the physicochemical principles

* Provides an up-to-date and thorough exposition of the present state of the art of complex polymeric materials

Curcumin – The Miracle of Turmeric – Eastern wisdom meets western science in one of the most potent supplements available by James Lee

Curcumin – The Miracle of Turmeric – Eastern wisdom meets western science in one of the most potent supplements available
Get the low-down on one of the most powerful natural anti-inflammatory and antidepressant substances known to man
Curcumin is one of the only known supplements that increases levels of BDNF – your brain's own natural "fertilizer"
An introduction to one of the most promising supplements to become available in recent memory from James Lee – the author of "The Methuselah Project – How to live to 100 and beyond".
Unlike many herbal treatments which are called "gentle" as a nice way of saying "not very effective", curcumin's effects on the body are surprisingly potent. Typically if you see something claiming to treat anything from cancer to heart disease to digestive upset, you should be suspicious. However in the case of curcumin, reality appears to match the hype, based on clinical trial data.
In this quick, easy to read guide, James Lee has trawled through all the research and clinical trials for curcumin to give you just the facts
* What exactly is curcumin and what has it been shown to treat?
* What are the different forms of curcumin (such as BMC-95, Meriva, Longvida and Theracumin) and are they effective?
* Are there any side-effects or toxicity concerns?
* Does it interact with my other medications?
* What does the research and clinical trial data say?
Along with certain other supplements such as omega 3 fatty acids, n-acetylcysteine and alpha lipoic acid, curcumin is one of the few supplements which James Lee believes should be almost compulsory for many people. All three of these supplements together provides you with a a potent anti-aging, anti-depressive, liver detoxifying anti-inflammatory arsenal.

Phytochemicals, Plant Growth, and the Environment (Recent Advances in Phytochemistry) by David Gang
English | 2012-08-29 | ISBN: 1461440653 | PDF | 180 pages | 3,7 MB

Phytochemicals, Plant Growth, and the Environment
The Phytochemical Society of North America (PSNA) is a nonprofit scientific organization with membership open to those interested in plant biochemistry, phytochemistry, and the role of plant substances in related disciplines. The PSNA exists to encourage and stimulate research in the chemistry and biochemistry of plant constituents, their effects upon plant and animal physiology and pathology, and their industrial importance and utilization. Annual meetings featuring symposium topics of current general interest and contributed papers by conference participants are held throughout Canada, the United States, and Mexico. PSNA meetings provide participants with exposure to cutting-edge research presented by prominent international scientists, but remain intimate enough to allow interaction and collegiality. Recent meetings were previously held on the campus of Washington State University, Pullman, WA (2008), Towson University, Towson, MD (2009), and jointly with the American Society of Pharmacognasy in St. Pete Beach, FL (2010).

Mathematical Mechanics: From Particle to Muscle by Ellis D. Cooper
English | 2011-03-28 | ISBN: 9814289701 | PDF | 392 pages | 2 MB

Mathematical Mechanics: From Particle to Muscle
This unprecedented book offers all the details of the mathematical mechanics underlying modern modeling of skeletal muscle contraction. The aim is to provide an integrated vision of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology for this one understanding. The method is to take advantage of latest mathematical technologies — Eilenberg-Mac Lane category theory, Robinson infinitesimal calculus and Kolmogorov probability theory — to explicate Particle Mechanics, The Theory of Substances (categorical thermodynamics), and computer simulation using a diagram-based parallel programming language (stochastic timing machinery). Proofs rely almost entirely on algebraic calculations without set theory. Metaphors and analogies, and distinctions between representational pictures, mental model drawings, and mathematical diagrams are offered.
AP level high school calculus students, high school science teachers, undergraduates and graduate college students, and researchers in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology may use this integrated publication to broaden their perspective on science, and to experience the precision that mathematical mechanics brings to understanding the molecular mechanism vital for nearly all animal behavior.
